Continuing Education and Meetings

Agendas

The agenda for most meetings includes:

  • 10:00-10:30 Coffee and conversation.
  • 10:30-12:30 Education program beginning promptly at 10:30.
    (All of these programs apply toward the N. C. Dispute Resolution Commission's Mediator Continuing Education requirement. Many of them meet ACR Advanced Practitioner or other professional continuing education requirements as well.)
  • 12:30-1:00 Brown bag lunch (bring your own) and informal peer case consultation
  • 1:00-1:30 p.m.  Peer Consultation
  • 1:30-2:00 Membership business meeting

Membership meeting agenda items should be submitted to the NCAPFM president or secretary at least two weeks prior to that meeting's date.

Guests are welcome at any of our meetings, although there is a charge of $10.00 for any non-member who would like to receive a continuing education certificate.

Directions to Greensboro Meetings

UNCG Gateway University Park
5900 Summit Avenue

Browns Summit, NC


From the South and West of Greensboro 

  1. Approach Greensboro from the west on I-40
  2. Merge onto US 29 North via Exit 39 and proceed 9.9 miles toward Reidsville 
  3. Take the Reedy Fork Parkway exit toward Summit Avenue for .2 miles
  4. Turn left onto Reedy Fork Parkway for .2 miles
  5. Turn left onto Summit Avenue
  6. Proceed .6 miles and turn left at 5900 Summit Avenue (Gateway University Park)
  7. Park in parking lot and come in main building

 

From South and East of Greensboro 

  1. Approach Greensboro from the east on I-40 and I-85
  2. Follow I-40 toward Greensboro via Exit 131 (as I-85 veers left toward Charlotte)
  3. Proceed 3.3 miles on I-40 and take Exit 41
  4. Proceed .2 miles toward East Lee Street/ NC 6
  5. Keep right at the fork and proceed 1.9 miles on East Lee Street toward US 29 north
  6. Turn right onto Hackett Street and go .1 miles
  7. Go less than .1 miles and turn left onto Gorrell Street 
  8. Merge right onto US 29 north toward Reidsville for 8.2 miles
  9. Take the Reedy Fork Parkway exit toward Summit Avenue for .2 miles
  10. Turn left onto Reedy Fork Parkway for .2 mi.
  11. Turn left onto Summit Avenue
  12. Proceed .6 miles and turn left at 5900 Summit Avenue (Gateway University Park)
  13. Park in parking lot and come in main building.

 

 

From North of Greensboro on US 29

  1. From US 29 southbound north of Greensboro, take the Summit Avenue Exit
  2. Proceed on Summit Avenue approximately .8 miles
  3. Turn left at 5900 Summit Avenue (Gateway University Park)
  4. Park in parking lot and come in main building

 

 

Becoming a Member

 

Consider joining the North Carolina Association for Professional Family Mediators! (informally known as NAP)

Becoming a member of NCAPFM provides the following benefits:

  • Quarterly meetings for professional networking, development and peer consultation.

  • At every quarterly meeting, a two-hour educational program that applies toward mediator continuing education credit for the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. Please check our Continuing Education and Meetings section for more information

  • A way to stay abreast of current conflict resolution trends, practices, and legal issues

  • The opportunity to be listed in the online Mediator Referral Directory of practitioner members of the Association. 

The NCAPFM has two membership levels:

1. General, for individuals who are interested in or involved in family mediation
2. Practitioner, for those who meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Training and experience in which member has completed 40 hours of family mediation training approved by the Association for Conflict Resolution or the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission and has been practicing in the conflict resolution field for a minimum of three years.

  2. Current Custody and Visitation mediator employed by the Administrative Office of the Court;

  3. Family Financial Mediator certified through the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission
